Studying Mathematics at RWTH Aachen
At RWTH, it is possible to complete a Bachelor Course of Study (B.Sc.) in Mathematics (Typical length of study: 6 semesters, in German). A Master Course of Study (lasting 4 semesters, in German or English) can be added on afterwards.
The possibility also exists to study mathematics for the Teacher Training Program for Gymnasien and Gesamtschulen or Berufskollegs (in German). Starting in the winter semester 2011/12, this course of study is only available in the Bachelor/Master system to those just starting mathematics. (The basic courses of study with the Abschluss 1. Staatsexamen is ending.)
RWTH Aachen's profile as a university is characterized by its strong orientation to application, which is highlighted in engineering and the natural sciences. This orientation is also reflected in mathematical research and teaching. All essential mathematic disciplines are represented at RWTH Aachen, but with a specific strategic focus and an eye on application.
