Yes, this is possible in case you will be finishing your Bachelor studies within the current year and as long as you provide us with your transcripts obtained so far.

For a first evaluation of your application copies are sufficient. In case your application is successful and you are going to enrole yourself at RWTH Aachen University, you will have to present your original documents.

We start processing your application as soon as the documents are complete (i.e., when we have received your application documents and the reference letters) but not before March 1 respectivly September 1. We cannot give you exact times and dates.

First your application documents will be pre-evaluated. In addition you may be asked for an interview with one of our faculty members. Finally the evaluation committee will check your documents and decide about admission. The committee meets about once a month. Once this decision has been made you will receive an official answer by RWTH Aachen University.

No, proving a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional.

The Master's program takes four semesters. The first three semesters cover your elective courses and two seminars in different areas. The mathematic modules are broken down into three groups: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and concentration. In each semester you can choose individually which course you want to attend. Pay attention to achieve the required credit points in each area. Beside the mathematical modules you will choose an application subject (minor). Depending on your choice you will take three or four courses of your application subject. Possible applications could be applied geophysics and computer science. The choice of your application is quiet independent of your concentration.
By individually selecting your concentration and additional elective courses you determine the main focus of your studies. The fourth semester is dedicated to your Master's thesis. The Master's thesis is a document written in English in which you demonstrate your ability to work independently and scientifically on a problem from the field of applied mathematics within a given time frame of one semester. All in all 120 credit points have to be obtained (roughly 30 credit points per semester).

The course starts in winter semester (October 1) or in summer semester (April 1).

Theoretically it is possible to change the application subject. However, in general the application subjects are not compatible in means of equal requirements. Hence you might not take credit for old subject modules. For further information, please see the examination regulations § 4.

No, the choices of application subject and concentration are completely self-dependent.

No, the RWTH does not provide any funding or stipends for Master's students. We recommend to check the DAAD website for any funding programs. However, the research groups for applied mathematics as well as other groups of RWTH Aachen University offer a limited number of jobs as student research assistants.

Currently, there is no tuition fee. Students have to pay a student services fee per semester.
As enrolled student you will benefit of reduced prices for public transport, student cafeteria, access to museums, etc.

It is not mandatory that you speak German, since the courses and exams of our Master's program in applied mathematics are held in English. However, we encourage our students to learn German, as it will help them in their daily life. There is the possibility to learn German at the language centre of RWTH Aachen University or at private institutions.

Yes, the service team will assist you regarding, e.g., insurance matters, getting familiar with Germany and especially Aachen. On request, there is also a handbook available with helpful information. You will also be assisted regarding finding accommodation. However, it is each student's responsibility to find accommodation. If you want to get a room in one of the student dorms run by the Studentenwerk you should apply for accommodation as early as possible (e.g., January / February to get accommodation in September / October). It is not necessary to be enrolled, you should start to apply for a room as soon as you know that you are going to study in Aachen. Experience has shown that employers of various fields are looking for and value mathematicians as generalists. In addition to having completed a demanding course of study, graduates are qualified for abstract, structural thinking and quick incorporation into complex relationships for many careers in our society.
